Biography

From the sea-side comedies to the current tragedies of immigration, from pirates adventures all the way to fantasy: the “Blue Planet” has always cast its spell on cinema and its vastness captures the public imagination. To divulge knowledge, the respect and love for the sea has always been Marevivo’s mission and events such as Acqua Film Festival are essential in order to achieve this goal.

Rosalba Giugni

Rosalba Giugni is the president the Marevivo Association. From a very young age, she has been involved in voluntary work in various social contexts, and fiercely determined in combining her great passion for the sea, our precious common resource, with activity that can be beneficial for the community, and in 1985, she started up the Marevivo Environmentalist Association.

She is considered one of the leading experts in the field, and in the course of these decades has worked on all the various aspects that deal with the marine ecosystem, not only from an environmental point of view but also regarding economic-industrial interests such as fishing, the public maritime domain, tourism, commercial navigation and pleasure boating, studying the fundamental problem areas and introducing bills and decrees to regulate them.

A skilled diver, she has set up a network of sub-aqua divers in order to constantly monitor the marine seabed, aimed at developing a data bank for scientific research. She has undertaken numerous projects that were crucial for the institution of the Ustica, Tremiti and Ventotene marine reserves and the underwater parks of Baia and Gaiola, combining the socio-economic benefits with the environmental ones.

She has written numerous articles for publications specialized in the field, published the book “La magia di Capri” and stories for children related to the sea.
