Biography

Ricky TOGNAZZI starts working as an assistant director for Luigi Comencini, Pupi Avati and Maurizio Ponzi. In 1987, he makes his debut as a director with Fernanda, an episode of the TV film Piazza Navona produced by Ettore Scola. This is the beginning of concerted activity during which he makes films such as Piccoli Equivoci (1989), Ultrà (1990), La Scorta (1993), Vite Strozzate (1996), Canone Inverso (2000), Il Padre e lo Straniero (2010), Tutta Colpa della Musica (2011) and, in 2003 Io no with Simona Izzo. His acting roles include; La Famiglia (1986) by Ettore Scola; Una Storia Semplice (1991) by Emidio Greco, Maniaci Sentimentali (1994) and Tutte le donne della mia vita (2007) by Simona Izzo; Il Cielo in una Stanza (1999) and In questo mondo di ladri (2004) by Carlo Vanzina.

He directed three biographic mini series for Raiuno; Il Caso Enzo Tortora – Dove eravamo rimasti? (2012) where he also plays the leading role, followed by Pietro Mennea – La Freccia del Sud (2015) and Boris Giuliano, un Poliziotto a Palermo (2016).
