The fourth edition of Aqua Film Festival, the first international film festival featuring short films, meetings, workshops and special events, dedicated to the theme of water – that was created and directed by Eleonora Vallone, actress, journalist and water sports expert – will take place at the House of Cinema, on April 11, 12 and 13, 2019.
The importance of water is highlighted not only from the artistic point of view, but also from an ecological perspective. The Brother Sea prize is aimed to report environmental degradation, from hydrogeological instability, to ocean and river pollution, due to low awareness on water issues. Among festival’s guests, the film director Francesco Crispino, Filmmaking professor at the University of Roma TRE, will hold a workshop on shooting techniques for filmmaking through smartphone. Registration is available for up to 64 participants.
The Jury will award the SISTER WATER PRIZE for the best short film, and SISTER WATER PRIZE for the best mini short film.
Five Special Mentions, among films of both competitions, will moreover be awarded to the short films and mini short films, shot by smartphone, that better interpret the following themes: the AQUA & THE ENVIRONMENT Special Mention for the best documentary film, will be awarded to the work that better explains the importance of preserving water, to respect and safeguard the environment. In addition to the mention, the winner will receive a prize from Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which has always been very attentive to environmental sustainability and Ocean conservation. From this edition, the Special Mention AQUA & THRILLER was introduced: it will be awarded to the mystery film, detective film or thriller, that better expressed the theme of water.
During the 2019 edition of Aqua Film Festival, the winners of the new competition dedicated to Italian and international schools and universities, named AQUA & STUDENTS, will moreover be announced.
Finally the Festival has set up the special mention, out of competition, BROTHER SEA – organized by the volunteers of the association UNIVERSI AQUA, for charitable purposes – open to short reportages, shot by smartphone, denouncing harmful effects of human activities, which cause pollution of sea, rivers or lakes.
