Iris Margarita Peynado

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Iris Peynado attended the prestigious Colegio Santa Teresita, studied classic ballet with Clara Elena Ramirez and at the age of 14 joined the Theatre Company “Teatro Estudiantil” directed by Venezuelan actor and director Romulo Rivas where, she made her first appearance on stage.

At the age of eighteen she moved to London to study theater and a few years later to Italy. In 1982 Iris started her professional career in Rome, working with several renowed directors and producers of Italian Cinema and Television. She has been part of iconic Italian films such as “Non Ci Resta Che Piangere” by Roberto Benigni and Massimo Troisi and television programs like the Festival di Sanremo. Iris has spent most of her adult life between Rome, Los Angeles ,New York and Santo Domingo.She is the recipient of several international awards for her career. In 2017 she was nominated as best actress for the most prestigious
Dominican Artistic Awards “Premios Soberano” and she won as best comedy actress at the “IRIS Dominicana Movie Awards”.

Alongside her acting career, she has continuosly been involved in cultural and social activities.

1996 – 1998 Ambassador for Studio De Fazio
Founding member of the Cultural Association Studio De Fazio and spokewoman for the Studio De Fazio and the work of Dominique De Fazio. with all social and public institutions such as Regione Toscana, Comune di Firenze, Regione Lazio, Comune di Roma, Festival di Spoleto among others.

Since 2004. Key contributor in organizing relevant main events for the promotion of art and culture of the Dominican Republic in Rome.

Since 2016, as Vice-President of Cultural Association Ro. Sa. M.
Ro.Sa.M. is a Cultural Association for the promotion of Contemporary Art founded in Venice in 2001, under President Roberta Semeraro.
