Biography
Journalist, documentary maker and photographer for 30 years Alberto Luca Recchi has been narrating life in the oceans with his photos.
Sea giants are his passion. To sharks in particular he has dedicated a great part of his efforts, taking part in research expeditions all over the world. He revealed secrets and curiosities about these animals through videos, conferences, tv programs, but especially with his prize-winning photographs which appeared in the most prestigious Italian and foreign language publications, winning several awards and acknowledgements.

Since Julius Caesar it is well known that Mediterranean is home of massive and elusive whales: fin whales and sperm whales. But nobody went to look for them until 1998 when Al with a small spotting plane and a motor boat during 6 weeks in the whale’s triangle (Genoa, Cote d’Azur, Corsica) led the first expedition in search of those giants.
In 1999 Al led “Mission Sharks”, the first dedicated shark discovery expedition along the italian and maltese waters of Mediterranean. Six months on a 72 feet boat, 5 italian shark scientist from 3 University, 6 tons of chumming in search of any shark. But something went wrong www.obiettivosquali.it
In 2001-2 Al organized a shark-themed exhibition. A big success visited from over 300.000 people in Rome, Naples and Milan. www.mostrasquali.it
In 2006 Al wrote and performed as an actor in the biggest italian theaters “Sharks” a musical. www.squaliateatro.it
In 2013 Al was the first italian invited to give a speech at the Explorers Club in NY
